hello, i’m steven
I’m going to level with you. I don’t like writing about myself. It seems a little narcissistic, but I feel it's only fair you get to know a little bit about me. So here is the abridged version.
Originally from a quaint fishing village called Manchester, growing up I always wanted to be a graphic designer or if that didn’t pan out, Batman. I’ve been interested in the visual arts ever since my father bought his first Sharp ViewCam. Don’t laugh, it was cutting-edge at the time. I was also gripped by the performing arts bug and picked up every musical instrument I could get my hands on.
I moved down to sunny Cleethorpes with my family in 1995 and went to college to study music technology.
While at college I earned a living as a DJ at a local holiday camp (nothing wrong with a bit of Agadoo) and also started to gain my skills as a close-up magician. Like Dynamo, just he looks a lot better in a baseball cap.
While all of this was going on I started to edit photos and create artwork for various companies and clients.
My love of photography kicked in when I started working as a music therapy teacher for young adults with ASD (Autistic Spectrum Disorder). I used it as a way of documenting those special moments to share with their families. I became addicted to capturing those images that highlighted those hidden gems that some people might miss.
My biggest motivator in life is my family. My partner Hannah (who is also a fantastic photographer as well) and our boys Jack, Josh, and the ginger ninja Kyle are the backbone of everything I do. There is never a dull moment in the Greenwood household. It’s filled with love, laughter, music, and just a smattering of insanity.
