About Steven Greenwood
I'll be honest—I’ve never been particularly comfortable writing about myself. It always feels a little awkward. But if you're considering inviting me to be part of your wedding, event or celebration, I think it's only fair you know the person behind the microphone and the deck of cards.
So, here's the story...
Originally from Manchester, I've always been fascinated by two things: creating and performing.
As a kid, I was forever drawing, designing, making videos and learning musical instruments. I loved anything creative. If I wasn't trying to become a graphic designer, I was convinced I was going to be Batman. (One of those ambitions proved slightly more realistic than the other.)
When my family moved to Cleethorpes in 1995, I went on to study Music Technology and began what would become a lifelong career in entertainment. During those early years I worked as a DJ, developed my skills as a close-up magician and continued performing as a vocalist—discovering just how much I loved bringing people together through live entertainment.
Over the years, that passion has taken me to hundreds of weddings, corporate events, theatres, holiday parks, private celebrations and venues across the UK. Along the way, I was fortunate enough to appear on Britain's Got Talent, performing in front of millions of viewers and experiencing one of the most memorable moments of my career. It was an incredible opportunity, but more importantly, it reinforced something I'd always believed—great entertainment is about creating genuine moments that people remember.
Away from the stage, creativity has never really switched off. Photography, graphic design and branding have always been huge passions of mine, and they've shaped the way I approach every event. I believe the smallest details often make the biggest difference, whether that's the atmosphere in the room, the flow of an evening or the experience your guests take home with them.
For many years I also worked as a music teacher, supporting young adults on the autistic spectrum. It was one of the most rewarding chapters of my life and taught me lessons that extend far beyond music: patience, empathy, communication and understanding people. Those qualities have become just as valuable in my performances as any sleight of hand or vocal technique.
Today, I divide my time between performing as a vocalist, amazing guests with close-up magic and hosting events as a professional compère. Every performance is built around the same philosophy: making people feel relaxed, involved and genuinely entertained. Whether I'm performing for twenty guests or two thousand, the goal never changes—to create moments people will still be talking about long after the event has finished.
When I'm not performing, everything revolves around my family. My partner, Hannah, is an incredibly talented photographer, and together with our three boys—Jack, Josh and Kyle—they're the reason behind everything I do. Life at home is wonderfully chaotic, filled with music, laughter and more than a little healthy madness.
If you've made it this far, thank you.
I hope this has given you a little insight into who I am, what I love doing and why I'm so passionate about creating unforgettable experiences for the people who invite me to be part of their special occasions.
Because at the end of the day...
It's not just a performance. It's a signature.
